Avocado Face Masks for Any Skin Problem

Celebrities can afford pretty much any sort of skin care product they choose. And yet many of them reportedly turn to avocado to get gorgeous skin. Whether eating it sliced in a salad or putting it right on their face, many uber-famous celebs have been very vocal about their love for the green fruit. You obviously don’t have to be a celebrity to use avocado for great skin. You can make at-home face masks that give you the same luxurious benefits of the avocado’s amazing antioxidant and anti-aging powers. Bellatory and Natural Beauty Tips have helped us get some great recipes for face masks using raw avocado. Read on to find out which mask will work best for you.

Avocado Face MaskIf you have ACNE-PRONE skin, try adding cucumber. Just mix the pulp from ½ an avocado with a few tablespoons of cucumber juice and apply the mask to a clean face. Let sit for 10 minutes and then wipe with a warm washcloth to remove. The cucumber will help to cleanse the pores while the avocado helps protect the skin from future problems.

If you have IRRITATED skin, try mixing in some oatmeal. Cook ½ cup of plain oatmeal per the package instructions. Let cool slightly, then mix in ½ an avocado. Mix well to create a thick paste. Apply to clean face and let sit for 10 or 15 minutes, or until dried. Rinse using warm water. Oatmeal should help to calm any irritations and redness while the avocado adds moisture.

If you have COMBINATION skin, give honey a shot. Mash ½ of an avocado together with a big tablespoon of honey. Stir until smooth and creamy. Add to a clean face and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse well with warm water until no stickiness remains. Honey is a great astringent to get rid of excess moisture, and yet it’s very moisturizing too, so it’s perfect for combination skin types. The avocado will help the honey cleanse the skin while refining the pores and giving smoother skin.

If you have DRY skin, yogurt is your best friend. Grab a large spoonful of your favorite plain yogurt (full fat works best). Mix in the mashed pulp of ½ an avocado and give it a good stir. Apply evenly on face and let sit until it begins to dry. Wipe with a warm washcloth to remove. Yogurt has lactic acid and enzymes which will help get rid of extra dry skin cells. Its fats, together with the fats from the avocado, will help add deep moisture.

If you have AGING skin, drop in some eggs and banana. Take a banana and cut it in half. Add to a bowl. Mix in ½ an avocado and mash with the back of a spoon until you get a creamy texture. Add in one whole egg and stir well. Let the mixture sit on your clean face for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse well with warm water. Banana helps fight dark spots and signs of aging, just like the antioxidants in the avocado. The egg will work to reduce the size of the pores and tighten the skin.
